Fashionably polished are those who spot the trends and make it their own. Then there are those who are pretty artful – trends are effortlessly dictated by the sheer power of their personas they reflect. But how do we define the most fascinating of the lot-the class that leaves no trend untouched yet they don’t really follow them. They have no boundaries and never really limited themselves to the vicious vogue cycle. Their creativity and the tasteful eye adds a unique touch to their look and what they choose to wear and adorn. Trends can be followed but that unique eye makes their style so intimate that it is hard to emulate.
Anoushka Shankar, a British Indian sitar player and composer, daughter of Pundit Ravi Shankar, a Grammy Awards nominee and now a mother transcends all boundaries not only in her approach to music but also her personal style. Style, to her is defined by experimentation and fun and not by following fashion rules. We at TSS love fashion but do agree that fashion rules can be quite binding at times! Not only does she reflect our idea of the Trans global fashion, but does it so effortlessly which is why she is sooo fascinating to us and makes her iconic too.
A panoramic lifestyle, is probably what makes her style so expansive and really does show us a different colour of her multifaceted personality. There isn’t one word really that can completely describe her style. She captures the Indian flavour with the essence of bright colours and traditional motifs that also defines her classical roots and yet there are days we’ll see her patronising a feminine flirty outfit translating into a psychedelic inspired pattern the next. A dramatic gown looks as classy on her as would the sophisticated winter wear. Her perception of style is very own which makes it so elusive to catch.
Haute Curry, her signature line at Shopper’s Stop with its rich Indian palette of floral colours such as lotus pink, deep vermillion, ink blue, emerald green and marigold yellows is descriptive of her ethno- fusion approach to dressing and we couldn’t resist using it as our title for the post because of it’s aptness.

-Bitter-sweet Symphony, The Verve Describing Anoushka's versatile approach to style is like writing a beautiful tale. She performed recently at the Sirifort Auditorium in New Delhi which is where she performed for the first time at the age of 13.Her real accessory is the sitar!
