What we are lovin' right now!

1)Mark Jacobs's tribute to Southpark

Thats right! Marc Jacobs has acknowleged and thanked the creators of South Park (Marc Jacobs has been immortalized at 'Marc Muscle Man' in one of the episodes of the show) by giving the 3 characters- Eric Cartman, Randy Marsh and Butters "Leopold" Stotch their fashin debut. The 3 characters are placed nude on t-shirts with 'Protect your largest organ' emblazened on their vital areas. The initiative, which benefits the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University, has been fronted by Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell and Dita von Teese. The tees are available online at $35 and at Marc by Marc Jacobs store.

We love Southpark and would love to rock the Mark Jacobs-meets-Southpark obscenity via the t-shirts! woohoo!

2) New York based designer Naeem Khan's Spring Summer 2012

Hailing from India, Naeem Khan is not a new name among the A-listers. Hollywood damsels like Eva Longoria, Penelope Cruz, Brooke Shields, Emily Blunt, Katherine Heigl have all flaunted a Naeem Khan. The  impeccable cuts, chic separates and elaborate gowns have embarked a USP for the designer, the intricate embroidery and bead work is a talent passed on from his grand-father to his father and then onto him. His designs have even graced First Lady Michelle Obama and Queen Noor of Jordan and were showcased on the silver screen with Sex and the City and Dreamgirls.

He found his label 2003 and showcased his collection in 2005. Over the years his collections have been stocked at more than 200 stores,  including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

His Spring/Summer 2012 collection is marked by beaded gowns, demure lace jumpsuits, faille ribbon rose gown, cowl neck, one shoulder gowns, all very typically Khan with jewel colours, crystal fringe, all very delicate, romantic, mystic and still spell drama like no other.

Unfortunately, though for us, we can only lust over the collection and tell y'all about it, and only hope the label retails in India too! The following are a few of our favourite looks from the collection.

What We're Lovin' Right Now!

1. LANA DEL RAY'S 'VIDEO GAMES'

She is also the self-proclaimed ‘gangsta Nancy Sinatra’ and Lana Del Ray’s debut single Video games is one of our favourites this season. With her husky, alluring voice and the old Hollywood melancholic notes of the song, it’s a rage on the internet with over 18 million views on Youtube. And we can’t stop listening to it! Her debut album ‘Born to Die’ has singles like ‘Blue Jeans’ and ‘Born to Die’ which are again very typical to this indie hipstress’s sound.

2.  GREEN THE GAP COLLECTIVE

Launched  in 2008 by Delhi-based NGO Swechcha Green the Gap is an enterprise which upcycles  waste into a vast collection of myriad accessories like handbags, clutches, wallets, pouches , office materials and even t-shirts. The purposes served are many while staying true to idea of a fresh, kitschy and extremely cool fashion. While propagating awareness about recycling and going green on the planet , which in itself is a bold move the collective also looks at opening avenues for underpriviledged artisans. The raw material could be anything from trashed jute, fabric and trims, juice and milk tetra packs, even rubber tyres and the result is a unique piece of design and innovation genius. The website offers customization of products to your liking too and the store is located in te posh Haus Khas Village os South Delhi. Besides, as we write this, their facebook page boasts of upcycled merchandise produced by the inmates of Asia's biggest Prison - Tihar Jail and also upcycling of  the waste generated by the Jail. Way to go guys!
